Frequently asked questions
How booking works, what's included, who is on property, and what to expect in each destination. Our concierge team answers anything not covered here.
Value
- Why choose a private villa instead of a hotel?
- A private villa gives your group one place to stay, gather, dine, and spend time together.
Instead of coordinating separate hotel rooms and meeting in shared public spaces, you have a private home base and a schedule shaped around your group. Breakfast can happen when everyone is ready, plans can begin at the villa, and the time between activities becomes part of the trip.
The right choice still depends on your group. We will help you compare the sleeping arrangements, shared spaces, location, and services so you know exactly what the stay will feel like before you book.
- Is renting a private villa worth it for a large group?
- It can be, especially when privacy, shared space, and time together matter as much as the bedrooms.
A villa's nightly rate should be compared with the total cost of enough hotel rooms and the experience each option provides. A villa can give your group private living and dining areas, a pool, and one place to gather, with meals, transportation, wellness, and other experiences arranged around the stay.
Value depends on the property, dates, inclusions, and sleeping layout. We will help you compare the complete stay, not just the headline nightly rate.
Careyes — Destination fit
- Is Careyes a good destination for a group trip?
- Yes. Careyes is ideal for groups looking for privacy, design, ocean views, and a slower, more intimate experience.
The villas are a major part of the trip. Many are fully serviced and designed around long meals, pool days, sunsets, and time together rather than a packed schedule outside the property.
Tulum — Destination fit
- Is Tulum a good destination for a group trip?
- Yes. Tulum works especially well for groups that want a mix of private-villa time, beach days, dining, wellness, excursions, and nightlife.
The experience changes considerably by location. Some villas are directly on the beach, some are central and close to restaurants, and others are private jungle estates. We will help you choose the area that matches the way your group wants to spend the trip.
Careyes — Destination character
- What makes Careyes different from a typical beach destination?
- Careyes is a private coastal world of dramatic cliffs, colorful architecture, hidden beaches, art, polo, long lunches, sunset dinners, and highly individual villas.
It is less about checking off attractions and more about the setting, the people you are with, and the way the day unfolds around the home.
Tulum — Neighborhoods
- Which part of Tulum is right for our group?
- It depends on the rhythm you want. The Beach Zone puts the coast, beach clubs, and restaurants closest. Aldea Zama is central, polished, and convenient. La Veleta feels more residential and creative, with cafés and casual nightlife. Region 15 and other jungle areas offer more privacy and a stronger villa-first experience.
We will explain the real tradeoffs in access, noise, roads, and transportation for the property you are considering.
Careyes — Location types
- Should we choose a cliffside villa, a beachfront home, or a private estate?
- Each creates a different stay. Cliffside villas offer iconic architecture and Pacific views. Beach-access homes make swimming and slower family days easier. Private estates give the most space, discretion, and separation. Homes near the social core make restaurants, beaches, art, and polo easier to reach.
We will help you choose based on mobility, children, privacy, events, and how much time the group wants to spend away from the villa.
Villa fit
- How do we know which villa is right for our group?
- Start with how your group wants the experience to be, not only with the villa that photographs best.
We look at your dates, budget, group size, bedroom and bed preferences, occasion, preferred location, and plans for the stay. A family trip may need a very different home from a retreat, wedding weekend, corporate offsite, or celebration, even when the guest count is the same.
Share the essentials with our team and we will guide you to the strongest options. If another villa is a better fit than the one you are viewing, we will tell you.
- What if we are still not sure this is the right villa?
- Tell us what matters most to your group.
We will compare the strongest options based on your budget, sleeping needs, location, occasion, and plans. If the villa you are viewing is not the best fit, we will say so and guide you toward one that is.
Tulum — Arrival
- How long does it take to reach Tulum?
- Tulum is approximately 40 minutes from Tulum International Airport and about 1 hour 45 minutes from Cancún International Airport. Actual travel time depends on the villa, traffic, and road conditions.
Our concierge can arrange airport transfers and coordinate different arrival times for the group.
Tulum — Seasonality
- When is the best time to visit Tulum?
- November through April is generally drier, cooler, and more active. December 15 through January 15 is the highest-demand period, with stronger rates and stricter minimum stays. May through August is warmer and often more flexible, while September and October are the quietest and most weather-sensitive months.
The best dates depend on whether your priority is weather, value, nightlife, privacy, or villa availability.
Careyes — Transportation
- Do we need a rental car in Careyes?
- Not always, but we do recommend it. Most LocoLuxury Careyes villas typically include a golf cart or a similar local-use vehicle, which makes movement within the destination easier. The exact vehicle, seating, usage terms, and inclusion vary by villa and must be confirmed before booking.
Airport transfers and longer-distance transportation are separate. Our concierge will explain the practical arrival and local transportation plan for the home you choose.
Inclusions
- What is included with our stay, and what can LocoLuxury arrange?
- Every LocoLuxury booking includes complimentary concierge support, daily cleaning, drinking water, a welcome basket, air conditioning in every bedroom, Wi-Fi throughout the property, towels, toiletries, soaps, toilet paper, and the normal essentials you need for a comfortable stay.
Staffing varies by villa. Some homes also include a private chef, butler, on-site host, or security. We will show you exactly what is included with the property you are considering.
Our concierge can also arrange transportation, meals, grocery stocking, wellness, yacht charters, reservations, excursions, celebrations, and other experiences. These are paid separately unless the property's listing specifically says otherwise. When chef service is included, groceries and the 20% grocery-provisioning charge remain separate.
Tulum — Safety
- Is Tulum suitable for families and groups?
- It can be, with the right property and planning.
We select villas carefully, arrange trusted transportation, and provide local concierge support before and during the stay. Some homes are inside gated communities or include security, while others have a more open residential setting.
No destination is completely risk-free. We will explain the location, access, transportation plan, and security features of the specific villa so your group can make an informed decision.
Careyes — Arrival
- Why does arrival planning matter in Careyes?
- Careyes is intentionally secluded, and the villas, beaches, restaurants, and hillside areas are spread out. Arrival should be planned around the group's airport, flight times, luggage, and the location of the villa.
Our concierge can coordinate transfers and make sure local transportation is considered before the group arrives.
Careyes — Seasonality
- When is the best time to visit Careyes?
- November through April is the strongest overall season, with drier weather, polo, and whale-watching possibilities. December and January have the highest demand and most limited villa availability. July and August are warmer and slower but still attractive for family stays. September and October are the quietest and most weather-sensitive months.
For holidays, weddings, private estates, and larger groups, booking early matters because the villa supply is limited.
Tulum — Transportation
- Do we need to rent cars in Tulum?
- Usually, no. Most groups prefer airport transfers and private transportation so no one needs to drive.
Walkability varies by villa, and some jungle properties are intentionally removed from restaurants and nightlife. We will tell you what is genuinely walkable and arrange the transportation the group will need.
- Can LocoLuxury arrange airport transfers and local transportation?
- Yes. Our concierge can arrange airport transfers, private drivers, and transportation for restaurants, beach clubs, excursions, events, and departures.
Transportation is paid separately and is never automatically included in the villa rate.
Careyes — Staffing
- What staffing is included at a Careyes villa?
- The current Careyes collection generally includes daily cleaning, chef service, and butler service, in addition to concierge support.
Exact staffing, service hours, and meal arrangements must be confirmed for the villa. Groceries and the universal 20% grocery-provisioning charge remain separate even when chef service is included.
Concierge
- Can LocoLuxury help us plan the entire trip?
- Yes. Your complimentary concierge can help bring the stay together before you arrive and while you are in the destination.
Depending on your plans, we can arrange airport transfers, private drivers, meals, grocery stocking, wellness, yacht charters, reservations, excursions, celebrations, and other experiences. These services are paid separately, and we will confirm the price before anything is booked.
Transportation
- Do we need to rent cars during our stay?
- Usually, no. Most groups prefer to arrange airport transfers and private transportation so no one needs to drive.
Transportation is not included in the villa rate, but our concierge can coordinate arrivals, departures, drivers, and rides based on your itinerary. For more remote properties, we will explain the most practical transportation plan before you book.
Careyes — Dining
- How do meals work when a chef is included?
- Chef labor may be included at the villa, but food and beverages are paid separately. The concierge and villa team coordinate menus, dietary needs, grocery purchasing, and meal timing. A 20% grocery-provisioning charge applies to purchased groceries.
The number of meals and service hours can vary by property, so we will confirm the exact arrangement before booking.
Tulum — Beach
- What should we know about sargassum?
- Sargassum is most common during the summer, although conditions can change from one beach to another and it is not present all the time.
Winter is usually especially beautiful, with clearer water and very little sargassum. If conditions change during your stay, our concierge can recommend beaches and activities where your group can still enjoy the best of Tulum.
If it appears during your trip, our concierge can help with alternatives such as cenotes, yacht days, pool time, wellness, excursions, or plans in areas with better conditions.
Careyes — Beach access
- Are the Careyes villas beachfront?
- Some are beachfront, while others are elevated above the ocean or positioned for wide coastal views.
A strong ocean view does not always mean direct beach access. We will explain whether the villa is on the sand, reached by steps, or requires a short drive or golf-cart ride to the beach.
Connectivity
- Is the Wi-Fi suitable for remote work, presentations, or retreats?
- Wi-Fi is available throughout every LocoLuxury property, speed and reliability vary by villa.
If your group depends on the connection for work, video calls, presentations, or a retreat, tell us before booking. We will verify the current setup for the property and help you choose a villa that matches your needs.
Tulum — Weather
- What happens if it rains during our trip?
- Tropical rain can be brief and localized, but heavier weather is more likely in the quieter season. The villa, covered spaces, and itinerary flexibility matter.
Our concierge can help reshape the day around private dining, wellness, indoor experiences, or adjusted reservations. For an event, the event planner should prepare a property-specific weather plan.
Power
- What happens if there is a power outage?
- Backup power varies by villa. Some properties have a generator or another backup system, while others do not.
If uninterrupted power is essential for your group, we will confirm the property's backup setup, what it supports, and any limitations before you book.
Tulum — Connectivity
- Are Wi-Fi and electricity reliable in Tulum?
- Every LocoLuxury villa has Wi-Fi throughout the property, but speed and reliability vary.
Power interruptions can happen, and generator coverage is property-specific. If your group depends on the internet or uninterrupted power for work, presentations, medical needs, or a retreat, we will verify the setup before you book.
Careyes — Families and mobility
- Is Careyes suitable for families, older guests, or guests with limited mobility?
- It can be an excellent fit, but the property choice matters. Pools, stairs, cliffside settings, bedroom placement, open-air layouts, and beach access vary significantly from one home to another.
We will explain the practical details honestly and recommend a different villa if it offers a safer or easier setup for the group.
Careyes — Experiences
- What can we do beyond the villa in Careyes?
- Careyes can include beach time, private boat days, tennis, polo, massages, yoga, wellness, art, long lunches, and private dinners. The pace is usually slower than Tulum, and many groups intentionally leave room for the pool, the view, and time together.
Our concierge can shape the itinerary around the group's interests and the season.
Tulum — Dining and nightlife
- Can the trip combine villa time with restaurants, beach clubs, and nightlife?
- Yes. That variety is one of Tulum's strengths. A day can move from a private breakfast or wellness session at the villa to a cenote, beach club, restaurant, or night out.
The location of the villa changes how easy that movement feels. Our concierge will build transportation and reservations around the group's priorities.
Careyes — Evenings
- Is Careyes a nightlife destination?
- Not in the same way as Tulum. Careyes is more social than busy, with dinners, beach plans, private gatherings, seasonal events, and evenings centered around the villa.
It is best for groups that value privacy and atmosphere over a large nightlife scene.
Tulum — Experiences
- What can LocoLuxury arrange in Tulum?
- Your complimentary concierge can help with transportation, meals, grocery stocking, wellness, yacht charters, beach clubs, restaurants, nightlife, excursions, private dinners, celebrations, and event support.
These experiences are paid separately. We will confirm the price and availability before anything is booked.

Tulum — Events
- Can we host a celebration or private event in Tulum?
- Possibly, with advance approval.
More than five visitors above the villa's maximum overnight capacity is treated as an event. Capacity, event fees, music limits, event hours, and vendor rules vary by home.
Tell us exactly what you are planning. We will recommend a property that can support it and explain the rules and costs before you commit.
Guests
- Can we invite visitors who are not staying overnight?
- Generally, yes. Up to five non-overnight visitors above the villa's maximum overnight capacity are normally permitted without an additional-guest fee. Please message the team so the property staff knows who is expected.
Visitors are not automatically allowed to stay overnight. Any change to the registered overnight group requires approval and cannot exceed the villa's confirmed maximum occupancy.
Careyes — Events
- Can we host a wedding or private event in Careyes?
- Some villas can support approved weddings, dinners, retreats, or private celebrations, while others are intended for quieter residential stays.
Every event requires advance approval. Capacity, event fees, music, event hours, and vendor rules depend on the home and the type of gathering.
